Meet the
Bowers Family

Three Generations of Cattle Raising

The Bowers family has been involved in raising beef for over three generations. Darin's grandfather, Henry P. Bowers, owned and operated a large cattle farm in Pendleton County, WV along with his three boys. Darin's dad, Jim, was the oldest of the boys and acquired adjacent land to begin his own farming operation in the mid 1960s. It was here that Darin, along with his two brothers grew up spending many hours working the farm.

Originally, they raised polled Herford cattle, but eventually transitioned to Black Angus by the 1980s. Two of the boys still live and work on the farm along with their dad. Although Darin went on to complete his medical training, he never gave up the interest in raising quality natural beef.

In 2000, Darin and his wife, Pam, purchased a small farm in Bedford County Virginia and now raise their own Angus beef. Having an experienced farm manager on-site was important to them to oversee the operation and in 2005 they hired Ron Bunting. Ron has been involved in raising cattle for most of his life and handles the large majority of the day-to-day operations. Dwelland Hill Farm specializes in raising Black Angus natural beef.
